This view is iconic, the inside of the Balcombe viaduct in West Sussex. We were actually asked to take it and did so on an extremely hot July afternoon. About the only bit of greenery on that day was that in the bottom underneath the arches. It is fascinating how much patchwork brickwork there is in those arches, but the most unexpected aspect of the sight is that they have a bottom as well as a top. Quite a good number of people are convinced that we have put the photograph on the card upside down, our instincts telling us that the green is from trees or vegetation above, in spite of the fact that trains rumble across the top all day and much of the night as it is one of the busiest viaducts in the UK, which wouldn’t allow trees to grow!
For now this card comes cellophane wrapped, but this will alter as stocks change. They are blank to allow you to say whatever you would like to say. The accompanying envelope is white
