On a trail on the top of Ashdown Forest

Sussex is famous for the South Downs, but also for the Ashdown Forest (and the association with Winnie the Pooh). The Ashdown Forest was a hunting forest, it is not named for trees, but for its historic landuse. It sits on top of the High Weald sandstone, which gives it an acidic soil and a heathland land cover, with a good amount of gorse. It is a popular haunt for walking and the long views and multiple childhood memories from simple hide and seek.
