Puffins belong to the group of birds called auks that are the northern equivalent of penguins. They have small wings and are very able and fast swimmers which helps them to catch fish.
Puffins share with Magellanic Penguins the fact that they nest in burrows. Having been fishing, a puffin may have a number of small fish dangling out of the sides of its beak. It looks rather clever. If photographers crawl slowly and patiently towards puffins, they seem tame, and excellent photographs can be taken.
