The city in the distance is Panama City. Across the bay a young man sits on a wall, surrounded by the buildings of one of the older parts of the city. Technically 'Old Panama' (Panama Viejo) itself is an archaeological site now, but the seventeenth century historic quarter built following the destruction of the earlier city by Henry Morgan, privateer in 1670 is called Casco Viejo. Inspiration for poets and authors, whatever the young man is reflecting upon is open to interpretation and our imaginations.
