Uh oh! London to Brighton Bike Ride approaching Ditchling Beacon

The ride from London to Brighton is 55 miles of occasionally lumpy terrain in aid of the British Heart Foundation and is a very popular event in June each year, although it didn't run in either 2020 or 2021. The roads being closed create such a different sound of swooshing tyres of varying thickness and halloos from the excitable participants. Until they see the skyline ahead of them at this point coming into the village of Ditchling when there is a sudden stunned silence as they realise there is no notch. They really do have to climb that scarp slope. It has already been 45 miles since they left London and they are often pretty tired and also often very hot unless it has been raining.

An obvious reason to send this card could be due to memories of attending the event, or of climbing the Beacon on foot. A less obvious idea might be as a good luck wish for someone about to do something not obviously easy - a sort of ‘go for it’ idea
