Ala Archa Gorge

Another of the illustrations I did for Is No Problem that we turned into a greeting card. ‘There be gold in them there hills’ is true botanically for this area of what is now Kyrgyzstan, once part of Soviet Central Asia in the days of Simon’s travels. Those hills, part of the Tien Shan mountains, have the most wonderful tulips and other bulbous plants growing in them. Many garden varieties have come from bulbs from these hills, although collecting is now frowned upon and enjoying them in situ is how it’s best done.

Unsurprisingly it is a very popular tourist destination according to Wikipedia. It is certainly magnificent. Wikipedia also suggests snow leopards are there, although Simon and his groups never saw one as they are a) notoriously shy and b) may not have been there in the late 1980s/early 1990s.

This card sells well to those whose spirits soar (also as a gift card with the book of course 😉)

For now this card comes cellophane wrapped, but this will alter as stocks change. It is blank to allow you to say whatever you would like to say. The accompanying envelope is white
