Church at Coombes

This is by far and away the top seller of the church greeting cards, as it sums up perfectly the image of the small unspoiled downland churches. There’s an intriguing idea that they were shepherds churches but that doesn’t make sense fiscally, although romantically it has rich appeal.

Land use change is something we’ve seen in our lifetimes, but not as much as there has been since the population grew from the end of the last proper glaciation onwards. In the early Christian era in Britain the high ground was tilled with wet valleys below. These churches and chapels of ease were for those who tilled the fields - a larger workforce than the shepherds who tended their sheep in later centuries.

For now this card comes cellophane wrapped, but this will alter as stocks change. It is blank to allow you to say whatever you would like to say. The accompanying envelope is white
